A crash occurred in the nervous peloton when a deer suddenly darted into the rear of the group. This caused significant falls for Giulio Ciccone and Hugh Carthy from Euskaltel. Five minutes later, another deer entered, nearly causing Carthy to crash again. Additionally, a collision with an Euskaltel team car led to one bike being damaged in this bizarre incident.
