Since St. Patrick's day is just a few weeks away I thought it would be fun to replicate one of those crazy burger box burgers for a more affordable wallet! So here we are with our first burger creations video! The Ruben burger is just what you would think it is! Think Ruben sandwich meets crazy burger! This thing was flat out delicious! I am using the fixins for a Ruben sandwich and piling them on top of a freshly grilled burger. I used a Lidl pretzel bun and this thing was amazing!
I started with 80/20 ground chuck, which is the only thing I make burgers with. The perfect fat to meat ratio for the juiciest most delicious burgers. Rick grilled these on the charcoal grill to medium perfection. You should use the type of ground meat you like and cook it accordingly.
Then came time to build our Ruben burger! Smear of homemade Thousand Island dressing on the bottom bun. I used my homemade Thousand Island dressing recipe that can be found here: [ Ссылка ] Then the beautifully grilled burger that was topped with melted Swiss cheese. Next up slices of home cooked corned beef. I will talk more about this later. Then more Thousand Island dressing and a good helping of angel hair sauerkraut then the bun topper.
Digging into this burger was a true delight. Tasted amazing and all the flavors of the Ruben sandwich were there plus the added bonus of the char grilled burger. Simply delicious! A real winner to offer friends and family this St. Patrick's day! This would be a great option instead of a full traditional corned beef dinner. Cook up some fries or potato wedges and pop open your favorite Irish beer and boom! Good to go!
I mentioned that I cooked my own corned beef. I weighed the option of getting a corned beef and pressure cooking it against buying it from the deli. The truth of the matter is, that cooking my own in the pressure cooker early in the day ended up being much cheaper than the deli option. I purchased a very small, 2 pound flat end corned beef and popped it in my Power Pressure XL 6 quart to cook for about 40 minutes. It came out perfect and I cooled it in the fridge and sliced it as thin as I could. This worked out great for us. You can just grab a bit of sliced corned beef from the deli though, and it will be just as delicious. I might suggest tossing it in a frying pan for a few minutes to take the chill off of it though. You should do what is most convenient for you and yours.
We truly enjoyed these Ruben burgers and the pretzel buns from Lidl were the perfect carrier for them! They were soft on the inside and malty brown on the inside making a perfect compliment to the burger and all it's trimmings.
I hope you give this Ruben burger a try for St. Patrick's day or anytime and I hope you love it. Stay tuned in coming weeks for more burger creations that you will love!
Happy Eating!
