Can NRIs and OCIs opt for NPS scheme?

We all know that NPS, that is the National Pension Scheme, is one of the best retirement planning schemes backed by the government.

But one of the questions that many people have is whether NRIs, that is Non Resident Indians and OCIs, that is Overseas Citizen of India can join NPS scheme.

NRIs, that is citizens of India but resident of some other country can opt for the NPS scheme and the only eligibility criteria is that their age should be in the range of 18-60 years.

OCIs are technically citizens of some other country but they enjoy certain rights and privileges that Indian citizens can enjoy. The OCIs can also opt for NPS scheme and they will be treated on par with the NRIs for the provisions of the NPS scheme.
