The Hyundai Eon, launched in 2011, was pitched as a direct competitor to the segment dominator Maruti Suzuki Alto. The ingredients were right with the Eon; it had a frugal engine, it had features almost the same dimension as the Alto, and overall, a good package. But beating the 20+ history and legacy of the mighty alto is a different game altogether. Despite Hyundai's genuine attempt at beating Maruti in the hatchback wars, the Eon, in its seven years of existence, faded into oblivion.
