Amazing Place in Bern . Mat Sill (Mattenschwelle) River Aare.
This is a longitudinal dam in the Aar in the city of Bern. The dam has been documented since the Middle Ages and was used to divert water to the Matte area, where trade could take place. From 1891 the water was also used to operate the Matte power plant of the City of Bern power plant, which later became Energie Wasser Bern. Matten's threshold is already mentioned before 1218.
A longitudinal dam running diagonally across the river diverts about 40 m³ of water into a commercial channel, where it is used by the Matte power plant for power generation.
