Is illegal rat hole mining rampant in Assam? Who is behind running coal syndicates particularly in Eastern Assam?
This issues was raised in the Lok Sabha today after newly elected Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi expressed grave concern and went on to say that Myanmar based rebel groups are being funded by coal mafias.

Bordoloi also said that forest areas are shrinking due to illegal rat-hole coal mining.
