Today we're takling all things poptimsim: what is is, where it came from, some of it's impacts, and most importantly, whether it's still needed. We'll take a look at turning points in poptimism, from the Kylie Minogue prank review Pitchfork did, to them snubbing Teenage Dream altogether upon it's release. We'll also talk about some albums that have been thought to be representative of peak poptimism, like Robyn's Body Talk (all the parts), Taylow Swift's 1989, and Carly Rae Jepsen's Emotion. And then, we'll also talk about how poptimism likely paved the way for current pop artists like Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Olivia Rodrigo to receive acclaim in their chosen genre.
