Major Matthew Perez explains the role of the Joint Air Power and Space Staff Element of the NATO International Military Staff.
The Joint Air Power and Space Staff Element is the single capacity within the IMS for analysis and advice of all Joint Air Power and Space related issues concerning Concepts, Plans, Policies as well as support to the development of the future capabilities.
Led by a senior Air Force Officer, the staff element serves as Joint Air Power and Space advisor for Director General of the IMS (DGIMS) and as a single point of contact for all Joint Air Power and Space issues within IMS.
The Joint Air Power Capabilities Section (JAPCS) coordinates and contributes to Joint Air Power-related requirement capture, capability development and capability delivery in terms of operational/military input. Furthermore, JAPCS is responsible for providing long-term conceptual documents and strategies related to Joint Air Power.
