The 4C first made an appearance to eager enthusiasts, albeit in concept form, at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. This sparked huge interest for the sleek lines and proportions of this Italian coupé, so much so it went on to win “Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year”. Two years later in 2013, the covers finally came off to reveal the production ready variant, complete with carbon tub, mid-engined layout and technologies derived from the limited production 8C Competizione. The 4C derived its name in the same way as, this time featuring a 4-cylinder turbocharged 1.7L engine mounted in the middle.
With the Carbon Tub weighing just 65 kg, and the composite body material being 20% lighter than steel, Alfa Romeo opted for assistance-free steering thanks to a sub-1000 kg kerb weight. Paired with a six speed TCT Transmission which can be operated via the paddles on the steering wheel, this package creates a true supercar-type experience. The Spider features revisions to the steering, suspension and weight distribution to optimise the driving experience over its Coupé counterpart. Our example has also been upgrade to a fast road suspension geometry and a Stage 1 ECU upgrade by Alfa Workshop.
