The Kappa is a mythological creature from Japanese Mythology and folklore. Though the kappa can also be referred to a type of Yokai, the kappa was believed to live nearby the rivers, ponds or any type of bodies of water, and therefore was often called the yokai from the rivers or the monster of the water from Japanese mythology.

Though having a humanoid body, the kappa has remarkable features such as the shell of a turtle on its back, the scaly skin of a reptile which color vary. but what really stands out about this creature is the hollow structure on top of his head called the ''sara''.
the kappa is certainly one of the most popular yokai from Japanese folklore and mythology
