A sizable species of civet that may be found all over sub-Saharan Africa is the African Civet. The African Civet is regarded as the largest Civet-like animal on the African continent and is the sole member of its genetic group that is still alive. The African Civets are not cats at all, despite their feline-like look and behaviors; rather, they are more closely related to other tiny carnivores like weasels and mongooses. The musk known as Civetone is what makes the African Civet so well-known. They hide it to mark their territory and have used it for ages to produce perfumes. The African Civet is one of the most easily recognized Civet species thanks to its eye-catching black and white patterns.
