Join me on my journey to do what the professional plumber said couldn't be done! My shower drain began leaking into the floor and I called the plumber who told me I cannot replace this drain without removing the entire shower stall. I live on the first floor of a house on a concrete slab foundation with no crawl space. To accomplish the goal I had to get creative with harbor freight rotary tool and my drill and cut the drain out carefully. My video shows you what I did and the end result. I replaced my drain with a "Wingtite" top install drain which I am happy to report is working great 3 months later, no problems! :D
