Jeff Bezos recently announced his plans to go to space this July, making him the first billionaire and space company founder to go to space. This will disrupt Richard Branson's plans to be the first billionaire in space and will potentially have an impact on Virgin Galactic's stock and the company itself.

SPCE went public via a SPAC back in 2019, and interest in the companies unique brand of space tourism sent the stock soaring over the next year. This coupled with the public support of large investors such as Cathie Wood and Chamath Palihapitiya ensured the company stayed front and center in anyone's mind who was interested in investing in the new space market. Unfortunately, a series of failed test flights and manufacturing delays have resulted in the company's forward progress stalling, and their stock price has been trending lower for some time now.
In their most recent earnings, Virgin Galactic branched out of the space tourism market into other areas where they can hopefully start to earn revenue, including microgravity research and astronaut training. But their big marketing push for space tourism where Richard Branson would be the first billionaire in space, and Virgin Galactic would reopen deposits for space flights to the public, may now be jeopardy.
