What to say when interviewing for a PA job first, remember that production assistant is an entry-level job. So anyone with a resting heart rate above zero BPM can do the job. So you have to stand out from the rest. So when I'm interviewing for BAS, these are some things that other people have said that make them stand out. Well, first, you don't want to say, I really want this job. Why not? Because no one gives a crap what you want. Not even your mom, your mom doesn't even want you to work in Hollywood. She thinks it's crazy. So if you want to get the job, tell me what I want and tell me how you're the person who can get it from me. So for example, someone, someone wants come in and they said, Hey, I was on your website. I work with computers. I noticed that some of your meta-tags are set up wrong.
I can fix that for you. I'm like, all right. Like I was impressed that they had done their research. Good for them. Now the person came in, they saw, I was eating a terrible looking bagel. They said, don't need that bagel. I can get you. I know a place has great bagels. I can stop every morning, pick you up a bagel too much better than that and bring it to you. And I'm like, all right, like, I don't want to waste any time. I'm too busy to waste time on figuring out what to put into my stomach. If this person wants to do it for me. Terrific problem solved for me. I like that. I like that. Go get her attitude. Another person was on my, uh, said to me, Hey, I noticed you, uh, you speak Italian. And I'm like, do you know that?
Like they had done their research. That's how I know. Like I speak Italian too. We could talk if you want to be in a practice. And I'm like, all right, like I, you know, I'm not hiring the person to be my Italian tutor, but I was impressed that they had done background research that they really wanted. They showed me how much they want this job. They, they, you know, they were go getters. That's the kind of person I don't need to worry about. I don't want to tell that person what to do that. Person's going to figure out they're going to spot a problem. They're going to figure out how to fix it on their own without getting me involved. That's a person who's like a headache solver. I like that person, that person deserves to get work. They stand out, they deserve a job.
So you want to be like that. So in your interview, point out all the, your various skills. You know, if you work, maybe you study graphic design in college, Hey, you have any artwork that needs to be done. Like just off the cuff. I'm happy to do that for you. Cause I know how to do that. You know, obviously we have an art department, but if they could do, maybe they want to mock up up, you know, a softball flyer or whatever the hell we'd want done. I just like knowing, you know, that someone has the group go getter attitude, they have a skill and they're willing to offer it up for the show to get advanced. Like that's just an amazing, that's, that's a person who deserves to work.
