Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell accused Senate Democrats of using “uncorroborated evidence” as “political weapons” aimed to destroy Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court. Speaking on the Senate floor Friday before a key vote to advance Kavanaugh’s nomination, McConnell said that Democrats have been biased against Kavanaugh from the beginning and that the supplemental FBI probe into Kavanaugh’s background was nothing but “destruction and so-called resistance until the final vote was called."
“The crosswinds of anger and fear and partisanship have blown strong these past few weeks. But all of that can end today. It’s time to vote,” McConnell said, offering his support for Kavanaugh.
