One stock riff that has given me endless joy over the course of my life is the one where you play C#, A2, B5, and E with the open high E and B strings ringing the entire time (you know the one). I love jangly progressions with chiming open strings, so I use that riff as a tester for lots of guitars here at Wildwood, and the way that this Junior responded to that silly little riff exemplifies why it is a truly freakish instrument. Very few guitars have a clear enough voice to make every note of these jangly chords come through a distorted amp, but this serial did! Certainly, the crystalline sound I got speaks to this guitar's amazing string-to-string balance. As I ran through the riff a few more times, the single P-90 pickup gave me a glorious wall of even-order harmonics with no ugly, gross frequencies, and it's rare that a guitar manages to sound that big without any unnecessary "fat" in its frequency response curve. This hard-to-find combination of enormity and clarity makes it a riff monster! If you're looking for Junior that gives you everything that you need and nothing that you don't, check this serial out!
