Performance of Eric Gudmunsen's Ryanair comedy song (Highwaymen in the Sky) by Frances Kennedy, born in Cork and a regular in the iconic John B Keane's pub in Listowel where she lives.
It was a summer day in Dublin and the sky was a cloudy grey
I figured I would have myself a sunshine holiday
I opened the interweb surfing for a flight
I googled in the cheapest, it said try the Ryanair site
Ryanair Ryanair Highwaymen in the sky
I quickly found the site and could not believe my eyes
14.99 and I would be taking to the skies
I didn’t read the small print, the tax was a disgrace
And another 100 euro if you want to take your case
Ryanair Ryanair Highwaymen in the sky
I got to Dublin airport everything was going just fine
To fork out another fifty because I forgot to check in on line
I shouldn’t be complaining it was all we could afford
They rounded us like cattle and herded us onboard
Ryanair Ryanair Highwaymen in the sky
The plane took off quite smoothly I was happy as could be
Five euros for a coffee, it tasted just like tea
The toilets were for nothing but the worst was yet to come
And bring a roll of Andrex if you want to wipe your bum
Ryanair Ryanair Highwaymen in the sky
The staff were nice and friendly all jokes and cheery smiles
They say next year it will be cheaper if you don’t mind standing the aisles
And every twenty minutes when we had all let down our guard
They would up and shout battle cry will you buy an oul’ scratch card
Ryanair Ryanair Highwaymen in the sky
After hours of the hard sell we landed safely on the ground
Another hundred in a taxi to get to the nearest town
We moan and grip and give out but we still go where they bring us
Because after all is said and done, they are still cheaper than Aer Lingus
