The Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden says the Chinese technology company Huawei must be stripped out of the UK's 5G network by 2027.
It reverses a decision made earlier to allow partial access but after lobbying from intelligence allies including the US, the new policy was confirmed to Parliament.
Huawei said: "Regrettably our future in the UK has become politicised, this is about US trade policy and not security."
