UN사무총장 후보들, 사상 처음 공개유세
For the first time in the history of the United Nations, candidates will compete openly for the world's top diplomatic job.
According to the Guardian, contenders for UN Secretary General must explain their "ideals and intentions" before the UN general assembly next month.
The daily also reports many candidates will hold public debates in New York and London... where they'll be questioned by individuals and civil society organizations.
Current UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon steps down at the end of 2016.
The major powers on the security council have always privately chosen the new leader... before presenting their choice for general assembly approval.

There's a campaign dedicated to highlighting outstanding women who could be considered. The campaign, Woman SG, has some official nominees including Irina Bokova the Director-General of UNESCO... and Natalia Gherman, who served as Moldova's deputy prime minister.
