William Desmond Anthony Pertwee, MBE (21st July 1926 – 27th May 2013) was a British comedy actor. He appeared in a number of comedy films throughout his career, including appearances in the Carry On series, but is best remembered for playing the role of Chief ARP Warden Hodges in the sitcom Dad's Army.

Bill died on 27th May 2013 of natural causes in Cornwall, England at the age of 86. He is buried in Brighton and Preston Cemetery, East Sussex, England.
