And the Vikings put themselves in this position with that big time win yesterday over Green Bay. It got a little scary at the end…but Sam Darnold came up huge to ice the game…and just look at the way his teammates welcomed him into the locker room…

Sam Darnold lit up this top 10 Packers defense yesterday. 377 yards, 3 touchdowns…but even more than that…seeing Kevin O’Connell put the ball in his hands WITH A LEAD in the 4th quarter to close out the game tells me everything I need to know. That final drive – having Darnold air it out to CJ Ham and Cam Akers in a “run out the clock” situation – is the type of stuff we see Andy Reid do with Mahomes…Sean McVay do with Matthew Stafford…you don’t do it unless you have the ultimate faith in your quarterback. And as good as Darnold has been all year…I think we’ve seen this offense and this coach/QB relationship ascend to another level over the last few weeks.

And now these Darnold-led Vikings have made it to 14 wins…one away from the franchise record and from locking up the top spot in the entire NFC. I don’t care about the history…and what this organization has been through…if they do get that #1 seed…I would not want to have to go into U.S. Bank in January with the way they’re playing right now.
