Atlas 46 Yorktown tool roll review
We got our hands on this Atlas 46 Yorktown tool roll around 6 months back when we decided it was time to clean up or 4wd drawers. We have been using it since and love it.
Atlas 46 are an American company that specialise in all things tool storage with Cordura bags, rolls and pouches. They caught our attention with their Yorktown tool roll, being versatile and different from everything available in Australia at the time.
The Yorktown tool roll is really well put together and feels like it is built to last the tests of time. This is what I would expect of American made gear though. Of course it uses nothing but quality materials to get this affect. It is made of 1000D Cordura nylon, for us Aussies this would be comparable to quality canvas. Atlas 46 use YKK zips and quality buckles and clips. Definitely built for the rough and tumble of rolling around a 4wd.
When it comes to practicality, the Yorktown tool roll has 4 large zipped storage pouches and 1 flat pouch on the inside. All that are 16” long or 40cm in metric sizing. On the outside it has 11 spanner (wench) slots covered by a really secure Velcro flap. And on the other side it has 7 wider multipurpose slots for pliers and the likes.
There is more than enough storage room to have a well-equipped tool kit and still have room for consumables like tape zip ties and WD40. There are endless options of how to set it up with all the different pouches and pockets. It is also worth mentioning these awesome tool rolls are available in 5 different colours as well.
The only thing I don’t like about the Atlas 46 tool roll is the grab strap on the inside that self-rolls the tool roll as you apply pressure as you pick it up. I find for me it gets in the way. The good is that it is easily removed by two clips.
The Atlas 46 tool roll is quite easily the best tool solution available for the Aussie 4wd tourer. Having the flexibility of a fabric bag yet the segregation and organisation of a tool chest. You won’t find a better tool storage solution for your 4wd
