Making our communities safer, cleaner, and greener starts with asking the fundamental question: who do our streets belong to?
Renowned urban planning researcher, Marco te Brömmelstroet, spoke about the provocative ideas proposed in his book 'Movement: how to take back our streets and transform our lives', co-authored with journalist Thalia Verdake.
Movement reflects on the apparent successes of Dutch cities and challenges us to rethink our ideas about transport to put people at the centre of urban design.
Following the keynote address, Marco shared the stage with Sara Stace, Director of Cities at WSP, Anna Bradley, Executive Director Active Transport at Transport for NSW, and Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Greiss for a panel discussion moderated by the Committee for Sydney's Estelle Grech.
