The NitrOx Lagoon Ammonia Removal Process was chosen as the most affordable treatment option for the Hillcrest Manor WWTF lagoon system, and ultimately demonstrated that new effluent ammonia limits of 0.6 mg/L summer and 2.1 winter can reliably be achieved, despite site-specific challenges. The whole system produced an average effluent BOD/TSS in the single digits and ammonia concentrations averaging 0.3 mg/L in summer and 1.5 mg/L in winter. The NitrOx Reactors reliably removed an average of 98.73% of ammonia, and the polishing cell successfully reduced total suspended solids by 77.99%. Overall, the NitrOx installation at Hillcrest proved its efficacy and reliability.
