GMAC Utilities Ltd were contracted by MOS Civil Engineering on a
new sewer project for a Taylor Wimpy housing estate.
Combining guided auger boring and timber heading skillsets,
GMAC's crew placed a new, 225mm diameter clay pipe system,
between 4 and 6.5 meters deep, below the existing road.
The ground conditions were particularly onerous consisting of
heavy ballast with large flint stones, but by utilising special cutting
heads and ancillary equipment, the material was broken up and
augered back through the steel casings enabling the product pipe
to be installed. The system was then connected to an existing
pumping station and laterals left for future developments to
connect to.
