“Knockin’ on Your Screen Door” served as the opening track from The Tree of Forgiveness, John Prine’s first album of new music in more than 13 years.
I only heard it for the first time last Wednesday when it was performed at a Zoom gathering of the UK Autoharpers and Friends. It was played and sung by an American lady, Karen Torell-Hoffman, and I enjoyed her performance so much I just had to give it a go myself. However, where Karen played it on her autoharp, I am using my six-string guitar for accompaniment.
