Church leaders in the West Bank's Bethlehem, have called for the cancelation of Christmas festivities and celebrations again this year as the war and humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues.
Rev. Drs. Mitri Raheb and Munther Isaac of Bethlehem are two Christian leaders who made calls for subdued celebrations last year while pressing world leaders to facilitate a cease-fire in the ongoing war in Gaza. This year, they’ve called on their community to do the same, all while the people of Bethlehem struggle with feelings of hopelessness and a struggling economy amid ongoing Israeli attacks.
Since Oct.7, more than 41,000 Palestinians have been killed, many of whom are women and children, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
