The mural, celebrating Irish-Polish relations, has been inspired by Irish and Polish folk art. It has been created by a Polish street artist Aga Grandowicz and an Irish street artist Una Woods, as part of the PolskaÉire Festival 2021.
The Irish shamrock and the Polish folk floral motives symbolize the two cultures and how they interlink. The two birds, the starling and the robin, taking centre stage of the design, relate to the two countries’ natural heritage.
The Lord Mayor of Dublin Hazel Chu and the Ambassador of Poland to Ireland Anna Sochańska officially launched the mural.
The project is the initiative of the Embassy of Poland in Dublin, in celebration of 30 years of the Embassy’s existence, in partnership with Dublin City Council and Waterways Ireland.
