The San Antonio Police Department is $1 million closer to receiving body cameras for its officers.
Body cameras are small, pager-sized cameras that clip on to an officer's uniform or are worn as a headset to record audio and video of the officer's interactions with the public.
Josh Baugh with the San Antonio Express-News reports $1 million dollars from the Justice Department are part of the overall $3 million the city will spend.
San Antonio Congressman Joaquin Castro says the body cameras will benefit both the police and residents by providing accountability and restoring trust.
On this first day of Fall, weather experts are talking about El Niño.
That’s the term used for a weather pattern known for creating more cloud cover and cooler temperatures.
The National Weather Service is predicting Texas will see a strong El Niño this Fall and Winter with greater chances of heavier than normal rain.
They also say the weather pattern has a 90 percent chance of lasting into the Spring of 2016.
