Breast cancer screening is a very important part of caring for a woman at all stages of her life. It starts with learning how to do a self-breast exam at a younger age, such as the teenage years, and then talking about family history and risk factors for breast cancer from your 20s on.
So when we talk about breast cancer screening, we're discussing how we can screen a woman that does not have symptoms consistent with a breast cancer condition, so we're talking about doing maybe a yearly mammogram, potentially doing a yearly breast MRI, also talking about your self-breast exams and a yearly clinical breast exam with a provider.
The Importance of doing these screenings is that we can potentially find disease very early and prevent progression of disease and really have a better treatment outcome if we continue to do our yearly screenings and follow our providers recommendations.
