Today we welcomed steam locomotive No.1370 to Rowley Station - here we see it passing through our 1900s Town ready for unloading!
1370, a Peckett R2, was built in 1915 and spent its working life at Yates Duxbury and Sons paper mill at Heap Bridge, Bury - where it worked until the 1970’s. The locomotive survived into preservation and was restored to a very high standard by its current owners The Jubilee Locomotive Company. The locomotive has operated at the East Lancashire Railway and at a handful of other preserved lines but with the locomotive being quite small it was of limited use at its ELR home.
As with Vulcan and Bon Accord it is likely that 1370 may spend some time in the colliery in the future too.
