When shopping for cooking oils at Costco, there are certain options that you should avoid. First and foremost, steer clear of soybean oil and corn oil because they are highly genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Be cautious when it says "vegetable oil" on the label - upon closer inspection, you may find that it's actually made from soybeans or another GMO source.
Another option to stay away from is canola oil. While often touted as a healthy choice, canola oil is derived from seeds and has been shown to be highly inflammatory in some individuals.
On the other hand, there are two excellent alternatives for cooking: avocado oil and coconut oil. Ideally, look for an avocado oil that comes in a dark glass bottle - this will help protect it from light damage. One good option by Chosen Foods is available at Costco (note: while also a great choice, be aware that their product comes in a plastic bottle).
Both coconut oil and avocado oil are stable at high temperatures, making them ideal for cooking purposes.
