On 10 November in 1983 the IRA murdered William (Willie) Fitzpatrick, 46, security guard and off duty RUCR shot, 9:30 pm, through a window.

Mr Fitzpatrick lived with his elderly mother at Brackney West Road, Annalong, near Silent Valley Reservoir, South Down, Northern Ireland. A keen football fan, supporting Valley Rangers and who had refereed a few local matches.
