Should Merino yarn be used to make socks? I don't think it's the best option. I discuss that plus why I've decided to sew my own clothes.
The replacement patch was knit before attaching it to the sock, for a smoother finish a provisional cast-on could be used and unraveled once the patch is attached. Across the bottom and top, I used a kitchener stitch and along both sides I used a mattress stitch.
