RSLogix 5000 Programming | Using JMP and LBL Instructions - Pitfalls for Novice Programmers
JMP and LBL Instructions play an important role in PLC Programming. However, they aren’t as straightforward as one may think. They can cause a lot of issues if the code is improperly structured and for those who aren’t intimately familiar with how they work. Although we do not recommend using these extensively, they can aid in reducing the workload on the PLC by skipping rungs that aren’t being used and allowing specific program flow that may not be achieved otherwise.
These instructions can be easily used as a trap in interview questions. It’s important to check their execution before adding code as some of it may not execute at all.
