Political firestorm over Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam case. Karnataka Governor has granted sanction for prosecution of CM Siddaramaiah. BJP & Cong spar over potential misuse of compensatory residential site allotments. Controversy involves land previously owned by wife of CM, Parvathi Siddaramaiah. CM's wife received 3 acres of land in Kesare village as a gift from her brother. The land in question was then acquired by MUDA for development purposes. CM's wife was allocated 38,283 sq. ft. of prime residential plots in Vijayanagar (2021). Pertinent to note, Vijayanagar is a sought-after area in south Mysuru. Critics: Market value of the plots exceeds that of the original Kesare land. The land allocation occurred during the tenure of ex-BJP CM Basavraj Bommai. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah: No scam, land was illegally taken from my wife. CM asserted that his wife Parvathi Siddaramaiah, was entitled to compensation.
