Hi, everyone. Aiden here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna be taking a look and showing you how to install our Konig XG12 Pro tire chains here on our 2021 Toyota 4Runner. Now, the big standout thing with these, is the self tensioning feature here. You've got a nice elastic band here that's pulling on this tensioner keeping the chains nice and tight around the tire. With that built in, it's really nice, really convenient and it's gonna make sure that these chains fit your tire really well. Inside the wheel well here, we can see, we have a nice diamond pattern which is gonna give us a bit of a smoother ride quality then a ladder pattern style and we've got our D links here on the chain.
These are gonna be good for some starts and stops a little bit more aggressive than something like a twist link. That being said, though, this is still a fairly low profile chain for your 4Runner, so ride quality should be really nice still. You do have a manganese nickel alloy construction around the chains here keeping them nice and corrosion resistant over time. And around the inside, our chain is coated so it's not so cold on our hands when we're out in the elements like that. And all these pieces in front of the tire are plastic or coated so we're not gonna be hitting our rim causing any damage.
This also comes with a really nice carrying case. It's a nice hard plastic, which will hold both your chains and any accessories that come with it. These are really nice. And I like them a lot because some of the other canvas bags that come with your chains don't reseal for one, and they have a tendency to rip. So when you're using those over a long period of time, your chains start spilling out and it's just a hassle to use.
This is nice and easy to have with you at all times. It stays in your vehicle. And that way, when you're in that bad weather situation they're ready to go when you need 'em. When picking out tire chains, you wanna make sure you get the right size for your tire. So if you don't know how to find that you can come around here, find your tire size.
Ours is 265, 70, R17 and make sure to just punch that into our fit guide. The nice thing is Konig is really good about getting properly sized fit guides. So when we're trying these on, they almost always fit the correct tires that they say they're supposed to fit. And these ones are really easy to install. Let's show you that now. So we're gonna start an installation by laying out our chains, making sure there's no tangles or anything in the chain. We want this Konig logo here to be faced down so that whenever we get everything up and around the tire, it's all facing the right way. And what we'll do is take this with the yellow end, feed it back and behind the tire, and out the other side. Now from here, there's a break in the middle of the chain, so we wanna just get that wrapped around the tire making sure things didn't get too tangled along the way. And once we've got it, where everything's kind of arranged around the tire, we can grab the two colored ends here, the yellow and the blue. Come up in here and bring them together to make our connection just like that. We will then drape the chain over top here on either side and then try to get this red hook onto the red link. We may need to adjust this up a little bit to make that connection first. There we go. And now with that connection made, we can get this centered on the tire with these cross pieces here, being our center. Coming to the bottom of the tire, we can bring everything forward and feed this arm through our tensioner piece right here. And you'll hear that kind of ratchets as I pull it. And then here is our piece that will keep the tension from that Konig logo, pulling it tight. And you can see we have a nice tight chain. Now, once you complete that on both sides of the vehicle, drive forward, roll over them a few times because these will start to adjust as you drive. Once you've done that, get out check 'em, make sure they're still nice and tight. You're ready to hit the road and get on your way. So overall, these chains are really nice in a pinch, especially if you're in a state that requires you have chains in your car during the winter like this. These are gonna be really easy to put on, really easy to use, and help you out of those light weather situations. For your 4Runner, if you need something more heavy duty, there are plenty of options
