Mike will be talking with Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, authors of Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope
In their latest book, Tightrope, Nick Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn focus on the state of working-class America, which in recent decades has experienced stagnant wages, the disappearance of blue-collar jobs, the ravages of a drug epidemic, and public policy that did little to address this unraveling. Kristof and WuDunn tell the personal stories of individuals just trying to stay afloat, of struggling communities uncertain about the future. But there are also stories of hope and resurgence, as well as policy prescriptions to strengthen America by strengthening each American.
Kristof and WuDunn are the first husband and wife to share a Pulitzer Prize for journalism, and the coauthors of four previous books including the best-seller Half the Sky. Kristof is an op-ed columnist for The New York Times and a former bureau chief in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Tokyo. WuDunn worked at the Times as a business editor and foreign correspondent in Tokyo and Beijing, and now works in finance and consulting.
