Made in DDR / GDR German Democratic Republic. The GDR was established in the Soviet-occupied zone of former Nazi Germany, that existed from its creation on 7 October 1949 until its dissolution on 3 October 1990. VEB Pentacon Dresden was an East German camera maker formed as VEB Kamera- und Kinowerke Dresden.
VEB Pentacon Dresden was an East German camera maker formed as VEB Kamera- und Kinowerke Dresden in 1959, in 1964 it was named Pentacon.
The Pentacon elektra is probably one of the best cameras for the SL film cassettes that were popular in the GDR at the time.
If you don't see the joy of photography in the tricky things, but in the enticing simplicity, then the PENTACON electra 2 is the right camera for you. No matter how many opinions there may be about a good photo, from a technical point of view the most important thing is the greatest possible sharpness and perfect exposure.
The PENTACON electra 2 perfectly fulfills both of these requirements as a fully automatic 35mm camera. Whether the sun is shining, or it's just cloudy, that's all the Pentacon Electra 2 needs to know from you in order to produce the right photo.
PENTACON electra is a Viewfinder camera, with the image format 25 mm X 36 mm for spool-free Speed-Loading SL cartridges, it has a flash light-synchronized central shutter with electronically controlled exposure times, powerful coated 2.8/45mm lens, which is equipped with distance and light adjustment, a camera that captures all motifs in black and white and colored - mastered with ease.
What you will appreciate "at first sight" with the PENTACON electra is the favorable dimension of the viewfinder, which enables you to precisely aim at the subject to be photographed, housing release and cable release connection, tripod socket and frame counter complete your elegant PENTACON electra.
Before you load your first film and start taking pictures, we will tell you in our brief information what you need to know about your "electra".
The Pentacon Electra uses reel-less Speed-Loading SL cartridges for 12 frames of 24 mm X 36 mm format. Push the rear panel latch up and open the rear panel. When the rear panel is opened, the frame counter jumps to the start position "A".
Place the full cartridge in the cartridge compartment next to the film transport roller left cartridge compartment inserted. Place the beginning of the film from the cartridge over the teeth of the film transport roller without changing its length. Close the back panel.
Turn the transport wheel in the direction of the arrow as far as it will go. Then press the camera shutter button. Repeat until the number "12" appears on the bid counter. Your Pentacon Electro is now ready to shoot. After the last picture has been exposed, the transport wheel is no longer locked and is turned further until it is noticeably easier. The film has then been completely transported into the cartridge and can now be removed from the "Electra".
The Pentacon Electra is preferably set up for the use of films with a sensitivity of 50 ISO and 100 ISO, but films with sensitivity values close to those specified can also be processed. The film speed switch is then set to the nearest value.
The aperture is set on the aperture control. The screen is selected according to the lighting conditions using the symbols printed on the battery compartment cover. The symbols are visible in the window for the aperture symbols.
The distance is estimated and set in meters or feet or according to the symbols on the dial. The distance value or symbol is opposed to the index mark bar below the aperture symbol window on the front cap.
Your Pentacon Electra will give you lasting pleasure if you treat it properly at all times. The batteries should be removed if the camera will not be used for a long period of time. Every now and then, use a soft hair brush to clean the cassette spaces and the picture stage of dust particles or film remnants. Do not touch the optical parts (viewfinder and lens) with your fingers! Use only a soft, lint-free cloth; Coarse dust or sea sand that has been flown on must be carefully removed with a soft hair brush. Under no circumstances should you bring your Pentacon electra into contact with solvents (ether, etc.).
The work provided are for a non-commercial purpose only. The material used has been only used for the purpose of being able to learn how photography works and its history.
