Topic: What Can Startups Learn from High-Growth Industrial Companies - Jorma Ollila (Royal Dutch Shell)
Bio: When Jorma Ollila joined Nokia in 1985, the company manufactured a diverse line of products, ranging from toilet paper to televisions, rubber fishing boots and communications devices. Appointed CEO in the early 1990s while Finland was in the grip of its worst ever financial crisis, Ollila and his team narrowed the company's focus solely towards mobile devices and infrastructure equipment which at the time was deemed a highly risky move. By the time Ollila stepped down as CEO in 2006, Nokia had become one of the largest technology companies in the world -- an accomplishment without precedent from a country of only five million people. Currently, Ollila serves as Chairman of the Boards of Outokumpu and Royal Dutch Shell.
