Clarence Greenwood, better known as Citizen Cope, is an American songwriter, producer and performer. His style has been described as "urban folk". Cope's compositions have been recorded by Carlos Santana, Dido, Pharoahe Monch, Sheryl Crow and Richie Havens. The Washington Post has hailed him as “DC’s finest export since Marvin Gaye,” while Rolling Stone raved that his “uncommon chords and harmonies combine delicate dissonance with unexpected flashes of beauty.” He currently records and produces for his own record label, Rainwater Recordings, which he founded in 2010. On March 1, 2019, he self-released his first album in six years, Heroin and Helicopters. Cope has been a guest at the 2010, 2013 and 2019 Crossroads Guitar Festivals.
