The Catholic Diocese of Brownsville on Thursday released a list of 14 clergy members who the church has deemed as “credibly accused” of sexually assaulting children.
Catholic bishops in Texas decided to release the names of “credibly accused” priests and other clergy members in October, two months after a Pennsylvania grand jury uncovered rampant sexual abuse by priests who molested more than 1,000 children since the 1940s. The Catholic Church has been under the spotlight for years of abuse by clergy members, who were relocated to other churches instead of removed from the ministry.
