We are back with another installment in |THE_PHONE_ARCHIVE| - a series in which I take a look at weird, strange, obscure and unique phones (or devices) for your entertainment! This series is made to look back over older devices that don't run Android and serve as a lookback and retrospective of a certain device.
Today we look at the Nokia N91. A Music focused device released in 2006 to compete directly against Apple. What exactly made this Nokia N91 a unique device, not only it's look but the fact it had a 4GB Drive built into the phone on launch. The Samsung SGH-i300 was the first phone to have a 3GB one but Nokia has a record for including the first 4GB and 8GB Hard Drives into phones! But...why don't we have any other phones with Hard Drives? The trend really didn't take off and flash storage was becoming more accessible and cheaper so that's my guess. But just think if we continued having hard drives in phones...our phones would look a lot different than they do now!
Also the drive in this is the SMALLEST Hard Drive ever manufactured. It was made by Toshiba. It's smol.
