Bowinn Ma, British Columbia’s minister of emergency management and climate readiness, speaks with reporters in Vancouver about the current drought conditions across the province. The news conference comes amid an ongoing dry spell in B.C., with 17 of the province’s 34 water basins already at Level 4 drought, Level 5 being the highest. Currently there are 345 wildfires burning across the province, over half of which are considered out of control. Since April 1, over 1.2 million hectares of land in British Columbia have been burned by wildfires.
