An alternate way to stretch the Gluteus Maximus muscle.
This variation of the Gluteus Maximus stretch encourages a little more external rotation at the hip, which will take up the tension of the Gluteal attachments to the inferior part of the sacrum and will certainly begin to stretch some of the Piriformis and Gemelli muscles due to the external rotation at the hip.
We find this useful to prescribe to our patients where the regular Gluteus Maximus stretch does not induce a stretch.
