9. Scrap the Pay Cap by Mayor Joe Anderson, OBE 19:44
...
Council also recognises Liverpool City Council’s ongoing commitment to pay the Living Wage to its employees, which was introduced by the current administration.
Council agrees to write to the Chancellor detailing their wish to pay respect to the hard work of Liverpool City Council staff in providing services to our citizens and the importance of valuing their contribution with a pay award which at minimum reflects the rising cost of living.
Council further calls on the Chancellor to make sure that the exchequer provide the funding for any pay award, rather than leave local government, and other public sector bodies, to make the impossible choice between providing services for citizens or pay awards for staff.
Council calls on citizens, trade unions and other bodies to contact their local MP, encouraging them to take part in the debate on December 4th and vote for the pay cap to be scrapped for all public sector workers.
