Rupak Bhattacharjee is one of the most established and popular names in the field of classical percussion music at present. Blessed to be born in a family of music lovers and practitioners, Rupak was introduced to the world of music through tabla, at the age of four, by his first guru, his father Sri Arun Bhattacharjee. He then took his further training from Sri Mrinal Kanti Bakshi in Farukabad Style. Later, he got the blessed opportunity to hone his talent under able guidance of the living legend of tabla, Pt Anindo Chatterjee.
Rupak has, since then added many feathers to his hat. One of the most important being standing first in AIR music competition and achieving President's award in 2004. He has, in this short period of his career, established himself not only as a distinguished solo performer but also as an accomplished accompanist. Within these years, he has travelled all over the globe and the country leaving the audience mesmerized as a solo and accompanying performer with almost all the doyens and luminaries of Indian classical music.
Rupak, an “A” grade artiste of All India Radio and DoorDarshan has already become a regular performer both as a Soloist & as an accomplished accompanist with several stalwart and top grade musicians all over India and abroad. He has achieved the rare opportunity to ably support his guru PT. ANINDO CHATTERJEE on duet tabla solos in several prestigious concerts.
