Call of the Siamang Apes at the Memphis Zoo. The siamang is an arboreal, black-furred gibbon native to the forests of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Their population is decreasing. They usually live in treetops, it is rare to see them on the ground. Their throat sacs can become as large as the size of their head, they use them to vocalize which can be heard for miles. They are one of the few primates that mate for life.
