If you're anything like me, at first stumbling across underpaintings made no sense to me. Why bother when you'd just end up covering it up with your paints anyways? Let me be the first to admit this technique made a world of a difference in my paintings! In this video I break down some of the key reasons why starting with an underpainting matters, along creating an underpainting together in real time. This is the' first step in my oil painting process (aside from coming up with a concept) and is important to understand if you are new to oils. I hope you enjoy the video!
