Just like good writing, bad writing can be spotted from a mile away. But how can we make sure we avoid overused ideas and phrases that make us look unprofessional.

I listed my biggest pet peeves here, but there are a lot of clichés a writer can fall into. These are simply the ones that bother me the most, and I try my best to avoid.

Remember, having these in a rough draft doesn't make you a bad writer! Just take them out. The important part of writing is editing, and when you're editing, you'll have the ability to root these pesky clichés out!
